Congratulations to Senior Police Officer Rebecca Skillern
Sr. Police Officer Rebecca Skillern was recently spotlighted by the IACP Net. SPO Skillern, who is also a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, is the Lead Trainer for HPD’s Mental Health Division. She has been assigned to the Mental Health Division since 2009, during which time she has trained thousands of law enforcement personnel and civilians in crisis intervention and de-escalation, led the founding of a state crisis intervention association, received numerous commendations, including being recognized as HPD’s Instructor of the Year (2014), and the Texas CIT Association’s Mental Health Professional of the Year (2019), as well as being featured on podcasts with both Psych Central and Rachel Star Withers’ program ‘Inside Schizophrenia’ highlighting crisis intervention training and specialized police response programs.
